Practices for inhabiting
En estas piezas reproduzco la composición de color de algunas de las fachadas de la Colonia Obrera en la Ciudad de México y construyo unos soportes a través de los que me interesa señalar el ejercicio de frágil equilibrio en el que se ha convertido la vida en las grandes ciudades.
En el contexto de ciudades cada vez más transformadas por la gentrificación y la turistificación, admiro la libertad de quienes con sus decisiones estéticas contribuyen a la diversidad, a quienes en sus prácticas del habitar insisten en pintar su casa de los colores que quieran y no de los tonos “neutrales”; beige, blanco o gris, que el mercado de la especulación inmobiliaria posiciona como los colores del “buen gusto”.
In this pieces I reproduce the color composition of some of the façades of the Colonia Obrera in Ciudad de México and I build a set of backings through which I want to highlight the exercise of fragile equilibrium that has become living in big cities.
In the context of cities being radically transformed by gentrification and touristification, I admire the freedom of those who through their aesthetic decision making contribute to diversity. Those who through their practices for inhabiting insist on painting their houses of the colours they want to and not "neutral" beige, white or grey, positioned as the "good taste" colors by the market of real state speculation.
